aim to encourage innovative thinking amongst students, Rajnibhai
V Patel Trust instituted PharmInnova Award at the academic
level of Pharmaceutical Sciences in India. The Award is given
to students pursuing their Masters & Doctorate in Pharmaceutical
Sciences.

Shri M J Akbar
|
M.
J. Akbar is a distinguished writer and a Member of the
Parliament. During his long career in journalism, he
launched, as the editor, in 1976, India’s first weekly
political news magazine, The Sunday, and two daily newspapers,
The Telegraph and The Asian Age in 1989 and 1994 respectively.
He has also been the editorial director of India Today
and The Sunday Guardian.

He
first served as an elected Member of the Parliament
between 1989 and 1991, and returned to public life in
March 2014, when he joined the BJP and was appointed
a National Spokesperson during the historic general
elections that brought the party back to office with
a simple majority under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
In July, 2015 he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from
Jharkhand.
He
is also the author of several internationally acclaimed
books, including India: The Siege Within; Nehru: The
Making of India; Kashmir: Behind the Vale; The Shade
of Swords: Jihad and the Conflict between Islam and
Christianity; Tinderbox: The Past and Future of Pakistan;
and Blood Brothers, a novel. In addition there have
been four collections of his columns, reportage and
essays.
In
2004, he was named a member of the committee set up
by Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, to draft a ten year
charter for Muslim nations at a special conference in
Mecca. In March 2006, he joined The Brookings Institution,
Washington, as a Visiting Fellow in the Brookings Project
on U.S. Policy towards the Islamic world. He also serves
as chairman of the trust for the Calcutta Muslim Orphanage.

Shri Pradyumna Vyas
|
Mr.
Pradyumna Vyas acquired a Masters in Industrial Design
from IIT, Mumbai, and was conferred with an honorary
Master of Arts degree from the University for the Creative
Arts in Farnham, United Kingdom, in recognition of his
contributions to design education and design promotion.
He has more than 30 years of professional and teaching
experience in different spheres of design. Since the
last 25 years, he has been associated with the National
Institute of Design (NID), heading the institution in
the capacity of Director.

Mr.
Vyas was conferred the award for his outstanding contribution
to design education at the second edition of ‘Asia’s
Best B School Award’, held at Singapore.
He
has been at the helm of design promotion events in India
and has represented NID in various international and
national events. He was elected as an ICSID (International
Council of Societies of Industrial Design) Executive
Board Member for 2009-11.
Mr. Vyas has been nominated as Member Secretary in the
India Design Council set up by the Ministry of Commerce
& Industry, Government of India.
Last year, World Education Congress, 2015, conferred
him an award for his Outstanding Contribution to Education.
Recently, Mr. Vyas has been honoured with the 'Lifetime
Achievement Award – Design, 2016' at the first 'India
UX Design Awards' for the contribution towards the designing
community and his pioneering efforts in the field of
design education and design promotion.
